Although we will rely on public donations initially, the project aims to become financially self-sustainable in the long term by incorporating social enterprise activities.
The building incorporates tourist accommodation and grounds which can be used for agriculture activities. These can be developed into income-generating businesses providing transferable and useful skills for the beneficiaries but also ensuring that the long term future of the facility is not dependent upon fundraising and donations.
The high quality building also presents many other as yet unexplored opportunities for social enterprise and educational activities beyond tourism and agriculture. We are also investigating other ways to begin social enterprise activities in Mostar town.
Overall the project is an excellent opportunity for the local community to build capacity and infrastructure for employment, and in particular to provide care leavers with greatly improved prospects.
